About SeekhoABC

At SeekhoABC, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to begin learning English with confidence. For many children in India, English is not their first language and their first experience with it can shape how comfortable they feel reading and using the language later.

Built on the TruePhonics learning approach, SeekhoABC creates an experience that feels like play while being grounded in structured literacy. It helps young children build English reading skills from the ground up, beginning with sounds and gradually progressing to words, sentences, and stories.

Where We Started

The learning system behind SeekhoABC began with TruePhonics, which was first created in 2021 as a paper-based literacy program for families. The idea was simple: make structured phonics engaging and accessible while ensuring that every learning resource followed the same carefully planned sequence.

What began with storybooks, sound flashcards, decodable words, exception words, board games, and workbooks gradually developed into a broader literacy program covering increasingly advanced reading skills and more than 40 supporting books.

TruePhonics was developed with input from literacy instructors, educational therapists, and classroom teachers. The original program was conceived by Heather Chitty, an Orton-Gillingham certified structured literacy instructor at The Reading Clinic, who created the original scope and sequence and developed the first learning materials.

Heather also wrote the 42 storybooks featured within the TruePhonics program. Illustrator Louise Casavant developed the characters and visual world of the stories.

Rosie Gatenby-Broeders of BGC South East later contributed to reviewing and expanding the higher-level material, adapting the curriculum for classroom use, and translating the print-based program into digital lessons, audio, visuals, and interactive activities for the TruePhonics App.

SeekhoABC brings this established learning approach to children in India who are beginning their English learning journey.

Tested with Real Learners

Before TruePhonics moved into an app format, the program was used with children in real classrooms and literacy groups.

The team observed how learners responded, which activities supported them most effectively, and where additional practice was required. Progress was tracked through assessments to understand changes in areas such as decoding, fluency, and reading confidence.

The program has also been used with children who found traditional reading instruction difficult, including learners with dyslexia and other reading challenges.

These experiences helped shape the structured, sequential approach that now forms the foundation of SeekhoABC.

What We Aim For

Our mission is to give children a strong and confident beginning with English.

We recognise that children in India may come to English with very different levels of exposure. Some may already understand simple English words, while others may be learning English sounds and letters for the first time.

We believe learning should support children at each stage rather than expecting every learner to progress in the same way.

Through SeekhoABC, we aim to make structured English literacy learning accessible, engaging, and enjoyable so children feel capable and proud of every step forward.

How We Teach

SeekhoABC uses structured instruction based on how children actually learn. Our lessons follow a sequence. First come the sounds. Then the letters. Then the words. Each step builds on the last. Children use visuals, audio, touch, and movement to help children stay engaged. They trace letters, drag words, tap on sounds, and match images. The activities are short, focused, and full of encouragement.

At the same time, we support cognitive skills like memory, attention, and sound processing. These are just as important as reading the words themselves. Everything is designed to help children understand what they’re learning and apply it independently.

Why We’re Different

Many early English learning apps focus mainly on recognising alphabets, memorising words, or completing games. SeekhoABC begins with the learning structure.

The program helps children understand how English sounds connect with letters, how those sounds combine to create words, and how words gradually become sentences and connected reading.

The interactive experience is built around this structured learning pathway rather than adding learning as an extra layer to a game.

For children beginning English for the first time, this means learning is introduced in a clear sequence instead of expecting them to already understand how written English works.
